A Brief Biography

Piers Raymond Courage was born on May 27, 1942, in Essex, England. He began his racing career in 1964, competing in Formula Three and Formula Two before moving up to Formula One in 1967.

Courage was a talented driver who quickly made a name for himself in the sport. He won several races in Formula Two and finished on the podium twice in Formula One.

Tragic Loss

On June 21, 1970, Courage was killed in a tragic accident during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. His de Tomaso crashed into a bank after sliding wide, and he was unable to escape before the car burst into flames.

Courage's death was a major loss for the Formula One community. He was only 28 years old, and he had the potential to become one of the greatest drivers of his generation.

Piers Courage is remembered as one of the most promising young drivers in Formula One history. He was a talented and fearless racer who was taken from the sport at the height of his powers.
